Anti-Rape Campaign
Th e government of Cambodia has been working hard to stop sexualized violence in Cambodia. They have been working with newspaper reports an d their own research, as well as work by WAC, LICADHO, and ADHOC that shows increasing sexualize d violence in Cambodia. We respect and support the work of the legisla tive and executive branches towards curbing this destructive trend. Sexualized violence, meaning rape and indecent assault, is a crime of power and control. This crime is an attempt b y one person to take power over another ’ s body by destroying their sense of autonomy. WAC and more than 20,000 women in Cambodia want to stop this appalling practice. W e have come together to say that sexualized violence in Cambodia must end. We cannot aff ord to sacrifice the safety and freedom of women to create a false sense of power in our men. Rape destroys people, creating an atmosphere of violence that harms us all.
